Project Overview

Between 2023 and 2024, Fine Work Kenya Limited was contracted to deliver a comprehensive, multi-layered fire protection and gas safety solution for Glee Hotel. Situated along the Northern Bypass Road in Nairobi, this premier luxury hospitality property required robust safety infrastructure capable of protecting high-traffic dining facilities, guest rooms, and back-of-house operations.

Fine Work Kenya Limited managed the end-to-end supply, technical installation, integration, and final commissioning of specialized fire and gas protection equipment to ensure full alignment with local regulatory codes and international life safety standards.

The Challenge

Modern luxury hotel operations feature extensive, fast-paced culinary facilities that utilize Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) alongside heavy-duty, high-temperature commercial cooking equipment. These environments create high exposure to both dangerous gas leaks and high-intensity Class K kitchen fires. For a high-profile destination like Glee Hotel, any safety compromise carries risks of severe property damage, operational disruption, and threat to human life. The objective was to implement an integrated defense system with zero compromise on guest safety or hotel aesthetics.

The Solution

Fine Work Kenya Limited deployed a complete, multi-tier protection package tailored to the property’s architectural layout:

• Ansul R-102 Wet Chemical Fire Suppression Systems: Installed across commercial kitchen hood extraction and cooking appliance zones to automatically detect heat and extinguish grease fires via saponification—cooling hot oil surfaces and forming a protective blanket to prevent reignition.

• LPG Gas Detection Systems: Deployed continuous-monitoring gas sensors and alarm systems across gas lines and kitchen storage/usage points to provide early warning, rapid leak detection, and automatic shut-off capabilities.

• Handheld & Portable Fire Extinguishers: Supplied and strategically positioned appropriate portable extinguishers across general hotel zones, corridors, electrical rooms, and service areas for quick manual emergency response.

The Outcome

The project provided Glee Hotel with a fully certified, compliant, and state-of-the-art fire and gas safety system. Fine Work Kenya Limited’s seamless delivery strengthened the property’s risk mitigation strategy, protecting valuable infrastructure, hotel staff, and guests while maintaining uninterrupted hospitality operations.
