In 2023, Fine Work Kenya Limited was contracted to supply, install, test, and commission an end-to-end active fire protection network for Miftah Holdings, located on Wood Avenue in Kilimani, Nairobi. As modern multi-story real estate developments demand comprehensive life safety systems, Fine Work Kenya Limited engineered and deployed an integrated fire suppression and water supply infrastructure tailored to modern commercial and residential standards.

The Challenge

Multi-level real estate structures present complex fire protection demands: high structural density, vertical height considerations, elevated occupancy loads, and strict compliance requirements set by local county authorities and statutory codes. The primary objective was to install high-capacity, heavy-duty mechanical fire protection infrastructure that delivers immediate water pressure to upper floors while equipping the building with both automated and manual fire suppression tools.

The Solution

Fine Work Kenya Limited implemented a robust, five-layer active fire defense system across the property:

• Dedicated Fire Pumps & Water Infrastructure: Installed heavy-duty main and jockey fire pump assemblies to maintain continuous, high-pressure water delivery across all fire suppression loops throughout the building.
• Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems: Designed and fitted overhead automatic sprinkler networks across key building floors and common areas to ensure instant heat-activated suppression during early-stage fires.
• Dry Riser System: Installed dedicated vertical dry riser pipework with external breaching inlets at ground level and landing valves on upper floors, giving county fire brigades immediate high-pressure water access to upper levels.
• Fire Hose Reel System: Fitted accessible, code-compliant hose reel cabinets fed directly by pressurized water lines for localized manual fire control by trained building staff.
• Portable Fire Extinguishers: Strategically positioned certified portable extinguishers (CO2, Water, and Dry Chemical Powder) across hallways, electrical switchrooms, parking areas, and utility zones for immediate emergency response.

The Outcome

Fine Work Kenya Limited successfully executed and commissioned the complete active fire protection system on schedule. The integrated installation provided Miftah Holdings with a fully compliant, high-reliability life safety infrastructure, protecting building occupants, property management operations, and long-term asset value.
